The Four Phases of Detoxification

The Four Phases of Detoxification

There is an order to cleaning out the physical body.  The Four Phases of detoxification are outlined below.  Currently we are in the winter season which is Kidney- Bladder.  You can optimize these organs with supportive herbs and supplements but you want to begin with the colon when cleansing.  A few great kidney herbs and foods include: cloves, cinnamon, onions, parsley, celery,  dandelion root, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, magnesium, seaweed and chlorella.

Clean out the Colon

Toxins are confined to the GI tract and exit through our stools and urine. If the immune system is compromised or there is “leaky gut” the toxins escape into the system. Dietary fiber is important such as fruits, oatmeal, bran, and vegetables.  Eating some raw vegetables is healthy for many although everybody is unique.  There is no one diet for all.  Metabolic Diet Typing is the best method to target your dietary needs. http://www.metabolictyping.com/   This is not the blood type diet or the Paleo diet but a custom diet based on how you metabolize.

The health of your colon is the health of your body.  Take good care of digestion and pay attention to how you feel.  If you are tired after eating, eliminate too quickly, have loose stools or constipation this is not normal. Clean out the parasites, bacteria and heavy metals. Wormwood, Black walnut hull, cloves, garlic, pumpkin seeds in the shell for tapeworms, cinnamon, chlorella, vitamin C, black radish and parsley. Specifics on detoxing heavy metals will be covered in another article.    Supplements include glutathione, chlorella, cilantro, garlic,Vitamin C ( and Vitamin C intravenously), healthy cold pressed oils such as flax, walnut, olive and coconut oil and diatomaceous earth ( food grade white powder also used in large bins of beans and flour to keep out bugs).

Clean out the Kidneys and Liver

This phase is focused on the Kidneys and the Liver. Toxins are moved from the gut to the liver through the portal tract. In the liver they are converted from fat soluble to water soluble to be excreted more easily. Sometimes substances are converted to intermediate substances which are more toxic than the original substance. The surfactants in laundry detergents, some chemical cleaners and pesticides are “sticky’ and stick to the liver. To help the liver do its job antioxidants are necessary- B vitamins, milk thistle, other vitamin and mineral cofactors. Liver cleanses, Ornithine, N Acetyl Cysteine, Alfalfa, Artichoke, etc. Kidneys are supported by water, vitamin C, hydrangea root, parsley, celery juice and marshmallow root.

Clean the Lymph System

Move lymph-exercise, lymph massage, sweat, sauna, any sweaty activity.  Sweating is important.  If you can’t work up a sweat then use steam or sauna.  Please check with your doctor before beginning an exercise program or sauna detox especially  if you have been sedentary for a while.

Clean the Blood and Maintain Alkalinity

You want to support the body’s natural detox by balancing PH and keeping a state of alkalinity. Eat greens and green drinks, less high fat meat, no sugar,  more potassium and magnesium, liquid minerals, lemon or lime juice fresh squeezed. You will feel lighter and more empowered after a cleanse.  Your brain and organs will be able to talk to each other and you will feel beautiful inside and out.

Check with a qualified health practitioner to find the right cleanse for you.
